Prior to coming to Elcho School, I worked as a Fish Biologist for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in Washington, near my home state of Idaho.  My educational background includes: a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Field Biology with a minor in Chemistry, a Master of Science degree in Fishery Resources, and a Post-Baccalaureate in Secondary Education: Natural Sciences.  I decided to switch careers so I could use my educational background and work experiences to help students succeed academically.  My teaching licenses include: Broadfield Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Alternative Education.  My teaching philosophy embraces the importance of building meaningful relationships with students and providing alternative routes to learning in order to accommodate the diverse learning styles and needs of today's youth.  My classroom provides a non-traditional, inviting environment that reflects the many personalities of both past and present students.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons.  My hobbies outside of school include fly fishing, gardening, hunting, hiking, and scrapbooking.
