2017 Season Updates

4/28/17
With the weather cooperating with us for the first half of the week, we were able to play 2 of our 3 games. Starting the week off great against Goodman-Pembine with a 26-8 win! We jumped out on top scoring 17 runs in the first inning.  It was an excellent night to get everyone in to play, allowing our underclassman to take over the infield.  Some exciting highlights from the night was Kenzie's second out of the park 3 run homer, as well as a few of our freshman's first hits of the the season!

As the rain came in on Tuesday the team finished up a depressing loss against Three Lakes.  Unfortunately our timing was just not on for the evening.  The girls struggled trying to hit a much faster pitcher than they have seen in previous weeks.  With the offense in a slump the defense seemed to follow along with and errors killed us. Three Lakes spread the hits around the field and the defense seemed to be contaminated with the error bug.

We are supposed to be playing Crandon for a make up game tonight, but with snow still on the ground we will see what happens.  Hope the see the end of the week finish like we started the week.

This week marks the beginning of conference match-ups.  So far we are 1-3 for varsity games and 0-1 for JV.  As of right now our record is not showing it, but I have very high hopes for this group of girls.  I have a lot of upperclassman who work hard and have played long enough to help the underclassman when necessary.  I have a great group of freshman (6 total!!!), who are all trying their best and learning quickly.   I cannot wait to see what this group of girls can do, as long as they remember the following:  basics are key, you cannot make a play until you catch the ball, and you cannot win without your teammates.

Softball Team 2017

If you look under the 2017 photos you will see some pics from our home opener against Wausaukee.  You will also be able to see some pics from our team fun day at the bowling alley, it was nice to have a day off of practice and enjoy each others company over spring break.  And you will be able to see our team pic of donations to AVAIL.  As a team we decided to clean out our closets and donate slightly used items to AVAIL, we also went and picked up some necessities.
I was very happy to see so many people at our home opener, which was a beautiful Saturday.  It would be great to continue to see such a large crowd, I know how much it means to myself and the girls for your support!
